The envelopes above were created in 1961 to send to a friend, who I'd been in school with in Chicago. She transferred to another school. I was interested in being a closer friend and started sending her letters in envelopes, which at the time didn't know that I was actually creating collages. These few envelopes were recently rediscovered, 60 years later, and framed. That friend has been my wife for 54 years.
